Dr. Johnson completed his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 1989 at St. Louis University, where he also obtained his Master’s Degree (also in Clinical Psychology). He completed his pre-doctoral internship and post- doctoral year at the University of South Florida, Florida Mental Health Institute. He served as a Research Assistant Professor studying trends in mental health services for children with serious emotional disorders and their families.
Dr. Johnson has also managed his own practice, or worked in private practice from 1990 until 2010 when he moved to Texas. Dr. Johnson has also worked in a number of forensic settings. He specializes in forensic psychology issues including Competency to Proceed and Sanity evaluations, sex offender risk assessment, Child Custody evaluations, treatment of children of divorce, and high conflict divorce families. In addition he specializes in psychological and psychoeducational evaluations of children and adolescents, and psychological and personality evaluations of adults. Dr. Johnson conducts psychotherapy with individual children, adolescents and adults, as well as families and couples. From 2012 – 2016 Dr. Johnson worked in a pediatric orthopedic setting providing a wide range of services to children and families including treatment for pain management. His therapeutic approach is problem focused, utilizing a number of evidence based therapeutic orientations.
