Miaya is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. She holds both a M.S. and M.Ed. in Counseling. Miaya has conducted research and presented both internationally and state wide. She is a founding member of her university chapter of Counselors for Social Justice, and serves as the vice president.

As a counselor, Miaya’s driving force is to help others understand and develop their true authentic self. Her passion is to assist others in building self-awareness, acceptance, and communicating boundaries through honest, authentic, and open support. She believes that everyone is unique, and change is possible.

Miaya has experience with various concerns including: anxiety, depression, family difficulties, self – acceptance, racial and cultural identity, and career development. She has served a variety of populations through private practice, university, and clinical settings. Her clinical interests include: depression and anxiety disorders, life transitions and adjustment, identity formation, relationship issues, family issues, and career counseling. She works with adolescents and adults.
